Every Word Of God Proves True. He Is A Shield To All Who Come To Him For Protection.
Every
Word Of God
Proves
True.
He
Is A Shield To All Who Come To Him For Protection.
Scripture
Proverbs
30
Observation
Both
of the statements found in Proverbs 30:5 are so very, very true!
When
I hear someone say that they believe that there are errors in God's
Word it only shows me that they don't spend very much time reading
and living out what God has written.
God's
Word is inspired, God breathed, and He has made sure that is 100%
accurate!
Yes,
40 men of diverse backgrounds over
the course of 1500 years wrote the different books of the Bible, but
God inspired each and every one of them. It is a love story and the
theme of God's love for me and His love for you runs through the
entire Book!
There
is no other book that compares with the Bible. It is the Living Word
of God.
The
second part of that verse is a promise to me and to every person who
puts their trust in Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior.
Application
God
is my shield. He is my protector! I believe every Word in the Bible,
cover to cover!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, You are my shield. You are my protector. Because You are my
Shepherd I have everything that I need. I can count on everything
that You say in Your Word. It is 100% reliable. It is full of
promises for me to hold on to.
I
pray for any person who might be reading this blog today. Help them
to walk by faith. Help them to count on every promise that they find
in Your Word. Increase their faith.

Then Make Two Cherubim From Hammered Gold, And Place Them On The Two Ends Of The Atonement Cover.
Then
Make Two Cherubim From Hammered Gold,
And
Place Them
On
The Two Ends Of The Atonement Cover.
Scripture
Exodus
25
18 Then make
two cherubim from hammered gold, and place them on the two ends of
the atonement cover.
20 The
cherubim will face each other and look down on the atonement cover.
With their wings spread above it, they will protect it.
Observation
As
I was reading in Exodus this morning I came across these verses where
God told Moses to make two cherubim. Have you ever read something in
Scripture and then thought to yourself, “Now wait a minute?”
For
some reason this question came to me as I read those verses, “How
did they know what a cherubim looked like?” Sorry friend, I still
don't have an answer, but I think it is a great question!
Maybe
while Moses was up on the mountain in the presence of God he also saw
cherubim surrounding our Heavenly Father. Who knows? (Exodus 24:9-11)
Because
God's Word is living and because it is new and fresh every time we
read it; it will never grow old. There will always be things in the
Bible that we will not completely understand and that will always
amaze us!
God's
Word will always 'awe' us and make us think!
Application
As
I read God's Word I will be on the lookout for new things!
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I know that You cannot reveal everything to us while we are
here on Earth. We wouldn't be able to comprehend all of the splendor.
I know that what You have in store for me and for all of those who
call You Lord is more than we could ever grasp! I love to think and
meditate on Your Word. Don't ever let me grow tired of reading it and
thank You for always showing me new things to think about as I read
it.

And So, Lord, Where Do I Put My Hope? My Only Hope Is In You.
And
So, Lord,
Where
Do I Put My Hope?
My
Only Hope Is In You.
Scripture
Psalm
39
Observation
There
are so many reasons to read a Psalm every day or at least very often.
If and when you find yourself tired, weary, and empty, when you are
discouraged, when you are down in the pit, that is the perfect time
to read in the book of Psalms.
Look
at all the verses that I found on hope, just from Psalms, and I could
have shared even more!
You
and I desperately need hope! This world is brutal! If we stray away
from God's Word we could quickly begin to think that things are
hopeless.
Lets
not let that happen to us. I sure don't want that to happen to me.
I
especially like where Psalm 130:5 says we find hope, “I
am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.”
Psalm
33:20
We
put our hope in
the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
Psalm
31:24
So
be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in
the Lord!
Psalm
39:7
And
so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is
in you.
Psalm
42:11
Why
am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in
God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
Psalm
62:5
Let
all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is
in him.
Psalm
94:19
When
doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and
cheer.
Psalm
119:114
You
are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.
Psalm
130:5
I
am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in
his word.
Application
The
first thing I will do in the morning is spend time in God's Word. And
when for some reason I can't read in the morning I will read God's
Word at night, but I will be in God's Word every day.
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I was never designed to live my life apart from hearing from
You in Your Word on a daily basis. I was created and designed to be
dependent on You. This world is too brutal to live in it apart from
You. Things are too crazy. I would be hopeless without an anchor for
my soul.
Thank
You for giving me hope. Thank You for the thousands of promises that
You have given me to hold on to when life gets tough. You have shown
me in Your Word how my story is going to ultimately end. You have
given me hope.

Under
Heaven By Which We Must Be Saved.”
Scripture
Acts
4
12 There
is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven
by which we must be saved.”
Observation
With
what the Bible says in Acts 4:12 and what it says in John 14:6 it is
pretty clear, at least to me, that there is only One Way to have a
relationship with God and that One Way is JESUS!
“Jesus
told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John
14:6
Revelation
1
7 Look! He
comes with the clouds of heaven.
And everyone will see him—
even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
will mourn for him.
Yes! Amen!
And everyone will see him—
even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
will mourn for him.
Yes! Amen!
8 “I
am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the
Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to
come—the Almighty One.”
I
am so glad that God brought someone into my life who told me about
Jesus! It was and is the best thing that has ever happened to me!
Application
At
the end of my life, if someone were talking about me I don't want
them to say, “Oh Eddy was a really good person!” No, what I would
want them to say is, “Eddy really loved the Lord and lived his life
100% for Him!”
How
about you? What would you like people to say about you at the end of
your life?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, thank You for sending someone into my life to tell me about
Jesus. I pray for any person who might be reading this blog. I pray
that if Jesus Christ is not Lord of his or her life that You would
send someone into their life who can share with them the Good News. I
pray for their salvation. Open up their heart, Lord and save them!
Show them that they can never be 'good enough' to earn Eternal life.

A Loud And Cheerful Greeting Early In The Morning Will Be Taken As A Curse!
A
Loud And Cheerful Greeting
Early
In The Morning
Will
Be Taken As A Curse!
Scripture
Proverbs
27
16 Stopping
her complaints is like trying to stop the wind
or trying to hold something with greased hands.
or trying to hold something with greased hands.
Observation
When
I read Proverbs 27:14 I thought of a name that Kathy's Dad used to
call her when she was a small child. He called her “Sword-tail”!
The reason that he called her that was because Kathy as a child was
not very friendly when she first got up in the morning! By the way,
she is not like that any more!
I
threw verses 15-16 in this morning just in case that it might
describe you or someone you live with. I hope not! It sure doesn't
describe my wife. I have the best wife in the whole world. (Now I
will have to make sure that Kathy reads this!)
Proverbs
27:17 hopefully describes you and one of your best friends. I have
the chance this week to meet with one of my very good friends and
have lunch with him. He reminds me of this verse. I hope that you
have a friend or friends that sharpens you!
Application
I
will think of other special friends that I can apply Proverbs 27:17
with!
How
about you? Maybe you need to spend time with a friend and get
'sharpened' too!
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, friendships and relationships are so important. Help me do a
better job keeping up with my friends and spending time with them.
Show me who needs to be encouraged. Show me who I need to call or
write. Thank You for giving me such good friends. I am blessed. I
pray that You bless my friends. And I know that You will bring more
people into my life in the future and I know that many of them will
become special friends too.
I
pray for any person reading this blog who may be feeling lonely. Help
them Lord to reach out to someone. Help them out of this pit that
they find themselves in. Show them that they have value. Bring a
friend into his or her life that will help them. Smile on them, Lord.

Each Of You Must Repent Of Your Sins And Turn To God
Each
Of You Must Repent Of Your Sins
And
Turn
To God
Scripture
Acts
2
36 “So let
everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus,
whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!”
37 Peter’s
words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other
apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Peter
replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and
be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your
sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 This
promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who
have been called by the Lord our God.”
40 Then
Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his
listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”
41 Those who
believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that
day—about 3,000 in all.
Observation
This
could be a message on a sign that a man or woman might hold up out
in the parking lot as you approach the Football Stadium for a Bucs or
a USF football game, or you might see it on a corner at Ybor held by
a street preacher.
Simon
Peter preached those words and 3,000 people were saved that day!
But
if I shout it at people in an angry or condemning way then I don't
think I will have the same results as Peter did!
Peter
himself said that this is how I should talk to people about the Lord
...
1
Peter 3:15-16
“Instead,
you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks
about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But
do this in a gentle and respectful way. ...”
Application
I
want to be used by God to tell people about Jesus and see them come
to Christ.
How
about you?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, help me speak to people in a way that helps them move closer
to You. Give me compassion for the people I speak to. Help me to be
alert and sensitive to the needs of others. Don't let me think only

Acts

Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the

Observation
Have
you ever heard the old saying, “Can't died in the cornfield”?
I
heard it when I was growing up. I can't remember whether it was my
Dad or my Mom or my Granny who said it, but I have never forgotten
it. I thought about that saying this morning when I read the first
chapter of Acts.
Maybe
you are struggling with something right now and maybe you are
thinking, “I can't do this”, well to you I say, “Can't died in
the cornfield and oh yes, my friend, you can.
If
you and I are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ then we have
received the power of the Holy Spirit, which is the very Spirit of
God Himself.
Philippians

Application

Prayer
Heavenly

they just can't make it. Show them that they can rely on You and the
power of Your Holy Spirit to get them through this difficult time.

Didn't Our Hearts Burn Within Us As He Talked With Us On The Road And Explained The Scriptures To Us?
Didn't
Our Hearts Burn Within Us
As
He Talked With Us On The Road
And
Explained The Scriptures To Us?
Scripture
Luke
24
32 They
said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he
talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”
Observation
I
can't say that every day when I read God's Word that it is an Emmaus
Road experience. But there are many days when I can honestly say that
I know exactly what those two disciples experienced on that road that
day with Jesus.
Spending
time with Jesus, whether it is walking down a road, a beach, or in
some other special quiet place, can be an Emmaus road experience! It
happens when Jesus opens up your mind and you see something in God's
Word that you have never noticed before.
It
is when all of a sudden God gives you at different perspective from
the Scriptures even though you may have read the passage hundreds of
times before. God's Word is living and powerful. God wants to warm
our hearts. Yes, He wants our hearts to burn within us, but for that
to happen we must spend time with Him.
Application
I
will look forward to lots of Emmaus Road experiences this year as I
read through the Bible.
How
about you? Will you make the commitment to read God's Word every day
this year?
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, give me a heart that has a burning desire to be in Your Word
every day. I want to experience what those disciples experienced as
they walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus. I want my heart to burn
like the hearts of those two disciples did. Show me new things from
Your Word. Don't ever let me get tired to reading Your Word and
spending time with You. Don't let my heart grow cold.
I
pray for any person reading this blog today. Give them a desire to
spend time in Your Word every single day. Help them not to miss a

Scripture
Luke
23
39 One
of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the
Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while
you’re at it!”
Observation
When
I talk to people about their relationship with God and I ask them
this question, “If you were at Heaven's gate and if God were to ask
you, 'Why should I let you into my Heaven?' What would you say to
Him?”
I
almost always get an answer that is more or less like this, “Well I
think I have been good enough for God to let me in.”
If
you have talked to people about their relationship with Jesus, then
you have most certainly experienced this same kind of response.
It
is like they think that God has this gigantic set of scales up in
Heaven where He weighs our bad deeds against our good deeds. And I
have noticed that somehow people almost always seem to think that the
scales will tilt in their favor. In fact, I used to think that way
myself until someone shared with me what the Bible had to say about
that!
It
is our job to let people know that there are no scales in Heaven and
that we can't ever be good enough to get into Heaven on our own
merits.
Luke
23:39-43 is a good passage to illustrate the point that it is
not good people that go to Heaven and bad people that go to Hell. It
is only forgiven people that go to Heaven.
Ephesians
2:8-9
8 God saved
you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for
this; it is a gift from God.
Titus
3:5-6
5 then he
saved us—not because we were good enough to be saved but because of
his kindness and pity—by washing away our sins and giving us the
new joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit,
6 whom he

Jesus Christ our Savior did
Acts

“Brothers,

Application

The Lazy Person Claims, “There's A Lion Out There! If I Go Outside, I Might Be Killed!”
The
Lazy Person Claims,
“There's
A Lion Out There!
If
I Go Outside, I Might Be Killed!”
Scripture
Proverbs
22
Observation
On
a cold morning like this morning, (yes, in Florida when the
temperature gets in the 30's it is cold ... to me) I like to stay
under the covers nice and warm and say to Kathy, “There's a lion
out there!”, and stay inside the covers for a little while longer.
By the way, I didn't do that this morning, but as I read Proverbs 22
it reminded me of where I got that expression!
This
morning I also started reading in Exodus about Moses and the burning
bush and God calling Moses to lead God's people out of Egypt. Moses
had excuses why he couldn't do it, but God wasn't going to change His
mind. He knew Moses was the man for the job!
I
also read in Luke this morning about Peter's failure, when he denied
knowing Christ three times, even though he had just told Jesus that
he would never deny him.
God
didn't give up on Moses, He didn't give up on Simon Peter, and I know
that He is not going to give up on me either!
And
I know that God is not going to give up on you!
Application
I
will not make excuses when God asks me to do something.
How
about you? “There's a lion out there” … isn't going to work!”
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I know that I am not perfect. I know that I am far from
perfect, but making excuses for why I don't do something is just that
– an excuse. I know that You don't want to hear excuses from me. I
know that You want obedience. Help me Lord to serve You with all of
my heart. Help me when I don't think that I can do something. I know
that nothing is too hard for You. In Your strength I can do all
things.

Heaven And Earth Will Disappear, But My Words Will Never Disappear.
Heaven
And Earth
Will
Disappear,
But
My Words Will Never Disappear.
Scripture
Luke
21
33 Heaven
and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.
Observation
We
live in a world where almost everything is designed to only last for
a little while, just for a short time: like cars, cell phones,
computers etc. And doesn't it seem like almost everything is made out
of plastic! Fortunately there is one thing that is going to last
forever. It is the Word of God.
The
most valuable thing that I own is a Bible that Kathy gave to me way
back in the early 1970's when God called me into the ministry. It is
old and beat up but what it contains inside will last forever.
God's
Word is powerful. It is living. There is nothing more valuable for me
to share with someone than God's Holy Word.
I
talked to a mother last night who was so stressed out that she ended
up in the hospital. All the stress was causing her to experience
chest pains. In tears she blurted out to me, “I know that all of
this has happened because of all the stress that I am under.”
She
then explained that she was trying to take care of her Mom, who was
now living with her, that had full blown dementia, she was dealing
with her teenage daughter that was struggling emotionally and acting
out, and on top of all of that she was in the middle of training for
a new job so that she could take better care of her family
financially.
As
I listened to her I immediately felt her pain and I had compassion
for her because a lot of what she was sharing I had personally been
through myself.
So
what did I do after listening to her share her story? What would you
have done?
Well
here is what I did. I shared with her some Scriptures that God has
used at times in my life when I was going through terrible, awful,
stressful, difficult circumstances.
I
didn't share them with her with the idea that by just quoting
Scripture that I was going to in some way fix her situation. I shared
God's Word with her because it is living, it is powerful and it is
life changing!
I
shared God's Word with her because I knew that it could give her
hope.
Here
are the verses that I shared with her:
Philippians
4:6-7
6 Don’t
worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what
you need, and thank him for all he has done.
7 Then you
will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.
I
Peter 5:7
7 Give
all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Psalm
55:22
22 Give your
burdens to the Lord,
and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
Jeremiah
29:11
11 For
I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.
“They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future
and a hope.
Application
I
will boldly, confidently, and carefully share God's Word with people
who are in need.
How
about you? Will you be Jesus' hands and feet?
Matthew
9:36-38
36 When he
saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused
and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
38 So pray
to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more
workers into his fields.”
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, there are so many hurting people in this world who are
desperately in need of hope. They need to hear about Jesus. They need
to know that there is help. They need to know what You have promised
us in Your Word. Give me the ability to communicate Your Word, and
Your Promises, with people in a way that gives them Hope. Help me to
be a good listener. Help me to feel the person's pain. I want them to
know that I care about them.

Moon and stars mounted in their settings. Then I look at my

of hell can separate us from God’s love.
39 No
power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all
creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that
is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Application
I
am fearfully and wonderfully made!
Psalm
139:14
14 Thank you
for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, I echo what the Psalmist says in Psalm 8, “O Lord, our
Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!” I don't know why You
love me, but I am thankful that You do. I don't deserve Your love.
There is not one human being alive on this Earth that deserves Your
love and yet You still love us! You are amazing!
