One Day Jesus Told His Disciples A Story To Show That They Should Always Pray And Never Give Up.

One Day Jesus Told His Disciples A Story
To Show That They Should
Always Pray And Never Give Up.
Scripture
Luke 18
1 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.
2 “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people.
3 A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’
4 The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people,
5 but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”
6 Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge.
7 Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
8 I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”
Observation
Jesus taught by telling stories. This story Jesus was shared by Jesus to His disciples I think for at least two reasons:
  1. There is a tendency for us, at least for me, to lose hope, become discouraged and give up.
  2. Jesus wanted to make sure, by sharing this story with His disciples, that I had the opportunity to see the heart of God.
Yes, God is for me. He is on my side. He cares about me. My Heavenly Father loves to answer my prayers. He loves it when I take time to pray and He loves it when I totally put my trust in Him.
And He loves it when you do too.
This morning I also had the opportunity to read about the story of Joseph in Genesis 45-46. It is an amazing story of God's love. God's hand was always on His servant Joseph throughout his entire life and Joseph remained faithful to His God and never gave up.
Application
I will always pray and I will never give up!
How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me this story in Luke 18. I know that You love me. I know that You want me to talk to You about everything. I know that You are on my side and I know that You are working all things to my good. When I am going through difficult times help me to remember this story and remind me not to quit praying and not to ever give up.
I pray for any person reading this blog that might be at the point of giving up. Give them strength, Lord. Show them that You are right there. Speak to them. Encourage them. Don't let them give up. Bring people into their lives that will help them to get through this difficult time. Give them godly friends.
