Remember The LORD Your God.

He Is The One Who Gives You Power

To Be Successful …

Scripture

Deuteronomy 8

¹⁸ Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.

Observation

There might be the temptation for us to think that it is because of our goodness that we are successful in the work place. Maybe you are a very successful businessman or businesswoman. Maybe you have the ability to make lots of money or maybe you are successful in your relationships and have lots of great friends. 

Moses is reminding the children of Israel of an important truth and it is a truth that you and I better not ever forget: God is good and we are not! You and I when God reveals our hearts (the core of who we are) you will find that we are stubborn people just like the Hebrew children were when Moses was leading them. 

Here are a few verses that if we guard them in our hearts should help to keep us on the right course:

    Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. Joshua 1:8

    Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

 Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:3-4
 

From Rick Warren’s book, “What On Earth Are We Here For?” comes this quote, and I think it sums up what it means to be successful while we are on this earth.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can.” John Wesley    (And I would just add – “As the Holy Spirit leads, directs, and empowers you”)

Application

I give God all the credit today for anything good in my life. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, give me a heart like Moses! Wow! He was so humble. Help me see Your mighty Hand in everything that happens today. It is because of Your goodness that we are even allowed to continue to live on this earth. We don’t deserve Your Kindness. We are so blessed. I recognize today that all that I have and all that I am is because of You and Who You are. Bless those that may read this blog today. Guide us and keep us on the right path. Help us to remember that without You we can do nothing.
