May God
Be Merciful
And Bless Us

Seeing our situation from God’s perspective = mercy! He is on our side!

Scripture

Psalm 67

May God be merciful and bless us.
May his face smile with favor on us.

Matthew 5:7

They are blessed who show mercy to others,
for God will show mercy to them. NCV

Observation

Pastor Bruce shared with us this past Sunday from Genesis 44 and 45 that Joseph spent 20 rough years of hardship, time in prison, and lots of suffering “all” for God’s glory and as a part of God’s plan. Joseph was able to see that God was showing mercy on he and his family even though what had happened to him looked really bad from a human perspective.

What are you and I going through right now? Maybe we need to ask God to show us His perspective on the situation. Might look really bad to us right now, but maybe it is because we can’t see our situation from God’s point of view.

Joseph was not a scorekeeper. He loved his brothers even though they had sold him into slavery.

You and I must forgive. We must show mercy to those around us.

Why?

So we can receive God’s favor. So we can experience God’s presence. So you and I can be blessed.

Application

I will not be a scorekeeper. I will forgive people when I am hurt or offended. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for taking care of Robin Vosler today as she underwent surgery. I ask You to take care of her all the way through this difficult time. Give Jason the strength that he needs to be there for Robin and Cross. You are the Mighty God. Nothing is too hard for You.
