Then Barnabas Went To Tarsus To Look For Saul.

Then Barnabas
Went To Tarsus
To Look For Saul.
Scripture
Acts 11
22 When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

23 When he arrived and saw this evidence of God’s blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord.

24 Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. And many people were brought to the Lord.

25 Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul.
26 When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. (It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)
Observation

I don't want you to miss this! Acts 11:25 is so important! It is what God has called all of us to do!

God was blessing Barnabas' ministry in the city of Antioch and many people were being saved, but that wasn't enough. Barnabas left Antioch and went to get Saul of Tarsus and brought him back to Antioch.
Barnabas saw the potential in Saul and Barnabas invested time and energy is Saul's life. It didn't bother Barnabas to let the Apostle Saul who would soon be called Paul take the lead in their ministry either.

Helping others become what God has called them to be is what we are supposed to do as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Life is not all about us. Life is not all about me.

Barnabas encouraged Paul and he stood up for the discouraged John Mark and he probably invested in a lot of other men that we won't hear about until we get to Heaven.

You and I are called to do the same thing!
Application
I will invest in the lives of the men that God has brought into my life.
How about you? Who needs a phone call? Who needs a word of encouragement? Who needs to know that you care about them? It is a rainy day here in Tampa. It is a perfect time to make a phone call, write a note, send a text and encouraged a brother or sister in Christ!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, the ministry of Barnabas could easily be overlooked because of all that the Apostle Paul accomplished but if it hadn't of been for Barnabas there wouldn't have been the three missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul. Give me the attitude of Barnabas. Give me Barnabas' heart for the men around me.
I pray for the men in our small group. Help me to help them grow spiritually.
I pray for our lead pastors, Bruce and Brian. “May You give them the desire of their hearts and make all their plans succeed. May You answer all of their requests.” (Psalm 20:4-5 personalized)
