Is Alive And Powerful.

Someone recently shared with me that he has a hard time reading and understanding the Bible. My suggestion for him and anyone like him is to start reading the Bible beginning in the Gospel of John and then the Gospel of Mark and as you read pray and ask God to give you understanding. There are so many good devotionals available to you via your computer or smart phone. Just Google Biblegateway and look at all of your options. As I read God’s Word I look for God to speak to me. I anticipate hearing from Him. Every morning I grab a cup of coffee and I sit down to meet with my Heavenly Father

Hebrews 4

¹² For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Observation

As I read God’s Word I look for God to speak to me. I anticipate hearing from Him. Every morning I grab a cup of coffee and I sit down to meet with my Heavenly Father.

In 2006 I began reading the Bible through each year and reading the New Testament twice during the year. I began writing a blog each day about something that I had read. As you can see I use the S.O.A.P. method to journal what God shows me in His Word. 

This simple method has helps me remember more of what God says to me each day. It is hard for me to believe but since 2006 I have written nearly 3,000 entries on my blog (tampabaptistchurch.blogspot.com) writing about what God has shown me in His Word. And everyday I find and see something new! And of course so will you!

God’s Word is alive and His Word is powerful.

Application

I will continue to look and explore God’s Word everyday that I have breath! How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Your Word is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes my innermost thoughts and desires. 

Nothing in all creation is hidden from You. Everything is naked and exposed before Your eyes, and You are the one to whom I am accountable.  So then, since I have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, I will hold firmly to what I believe.  

This High Priest of mine understands my weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings I do, yet he did not sin.  So I will come boldly to the throne of my gracious God. There I will receive his mercy, and I will find grace to help me when I need it most. For I have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. My new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.
