Don't Get Sidetracked

Don't
Get
Sidetracked
Scripture
Proverbs 4
27 Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil.

Observation

Stay on course! Don't veer off! Don't let anything change your course! Satan wants to mess you up! He wants us to choose evil and he wants us to veer off course! Don't do it! He is cunning. He is clever. He wants to destroy us! He wants to destroy our marriage, or relationships, our family. Don't let him get you sidetracked!
What can help us stay on track?
Here are 3 suggestions:
Read God's word everyday.
Be a part of an exciting church where the people love the Lord and God's word is preached!
Be an active participant in a small group where you can meet and make some great Christian friends.
1 Peter 5:8
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
Ephesians 4
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Ephesians 6
11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
Application

I will not get sidetracked. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, it is so easy to get sidetracked by evil. Our old nature wants us to yield to temptation and Satan and his cronies are always tempting us. They always want us to choose something that appears to be good. Something that is appealing to us. Something that is pleasurable for a moment but that will never satisfy.
So thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit. Your Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I do not have to yield to sin. I do not have to get sidetracked. Your word have I hid in my heart so I will not sin against You. (Romans 8:11, Philippians 4:13, Psalm 119:11 personalized)
