If You Do Anything You Believe Is Not Right, You Are Sinning.

If You Do Anything
You Believe Is Not Right,
You Are Sinning.
Scripture
Romans 14
23 … If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
Romans 15
1 We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves.

2 We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.

3 For even Christ didn’t live to please himself.

Observation

Maybe you have never heard of the “weaker brother” principle, and that is why you continue doing what you are doing as a follower of Christ.
Let me give you an example of this principle.
Maybe you think that drinking an alcoholic beverage is okay and so at your social events you drink and you even offer those that you have invited a drink.
In the group of friends that you invited there is a recovering alcoholic. Maybe this recovering alcoholic is a brand new believer in Christ! He or she wants to fit in so they take a drink! You have just caused a weaker brother to sin!
My mother struggled with alcoholism. Others in my family have destroyed their lives with alcohol. So yes, this principle is very important to me!
Someone to consider when you start to bring out that alcohol at your next party or social event – is your weaker brother or sister in Christ!
Application
I will do all that I can to help my brothers and sisters who struggle with alcohol walk in sobriety and victory. How about you?
Prayer

Heavenly Father, we have so many new believers in Christ at our church. They are baby Christians. Help them to see how important it is to consider a weaker brother in what they do or don't do. Help those that struggle with alcohol and drugs. Help us to help them walk in sobriety. Don't let us cause them to stumble.
