So Be Careful How You Live.

So
Be Careful
How You Live.
Scripture
Ephesians 5
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
3 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.
4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
5 You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
6 Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.
16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.
20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Observation
Ephesians 4 and Ephesians 5 are filled with admonitions, with warnings, with instructions on how we are to live out our lives. Remember that the Apostle Paul ended chapter 4 with this admonition:
And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:30-32
The reason why chapter 4 and chapter 5 of Ephesians are in the Bible for us to read (at least one of the reasons) is because you and I have the tendency (or the temptation) to live just like the ungodly live. He warns us against these three things in verses 3 & 5 of chapter five: sexual immorality, impurity, and greed.
Application
Ephesians 5:1&2 will be what I am going to think about and meditate on today.
Ephesians 5:1-2
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me live out my life in a way that makes You smile. I want to obey Your Word. I want to live a godly life. I don't want to do stupid sins that mess up my walk with You. Help me to live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. Help me to imitate You in everything that I do. Give me the strength to say “NO” to sin.
And help my brothers and sisters in Christ live godly lives.
