Jesus Gave His Life For Our Sins, ...

In Order To Rescue Us

From This Evil World In Which We Live.

Scripture

Galatians 1

3 May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

4 Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.

5 All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.

Observation

Make no mistake about it, you and I live in an evil world. Sometimes I think it is good to remind myself that this world has been evil since the moment Adam and Eve decided to eat that forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

The Apostle Paul was living in a very evil and corrupt world under the rule of the Roman Empire. I have read that Nero would have Christians hunted down and killed by dogs and other Christians he would burn to death. And let's not forget that all of the disciples of Jesus were put to death including the Apostle Paul with the exception of the Apostle John who had been banished to live out his life on an island.

And you and I have been given the task to be light in this dark evil world.

Let's remember these words of Jesus in Matthew 10:16-22 & 34-36,

>>> “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” <<<

I have served as a missionary in countries where Christians were persecuted and risked every moment being put in prison or being put to death for their faith. It just made them stronger and more committed to Christ.

Application

Whatever comes my way it will just make me stronger and more committed to Christ.

How about you?

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, whatever happens after this election I know that You will be at work. And I know that You will work out Your plan for not only our country but for this entire world. Nothing catches You by surprise. No leader ever rises to power unless You put them in that position.

I pray for our leaders. I pray for peace. Raise up godly men and women to lead us.

Psalm 22:28

for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.

Daniel 2:21

21 He changes times and seasons;
    he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to those who have understanding;
