Remember This – A Farmer Who Plants Only A Few Seeds Will Get A Small Crop.

Remember This –
A Farmer Who Plants Only A Few Seeds
Will Get A Small Crop.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 9
6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.
7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
9 As the Scriptures say,
They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
Observation
Over the past several weeks and months Kathy and I have been overwhelmed by the generosity expressed to us by some of our family and friends. We are so blessed.
This passage, as I read it today in 2 Corinthians 9, brought all of them to my mind. God is going to bless them. I know He is going to bless them because He says so today in His Word!
And God will not just bless them but He will bless all of us too if we have learned the principle of the “law of the harvest” and we are putting it into practice.
The Apostle Paul uses the illustration of a farmer planting a crop to help us understand that generosity always returns big dividends.
If a farmer is stingy and only plants a few seeds, then his crop will be weak and small, but if he is generous and plants lots of seeds then he will have a bumper crop!
You and I, we cannot out give our God!
Luke 6:38
38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
Philippians 4:19
19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Application
I will look for opportunities to be a “cheerful giver”!
How about you?
Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing us to have such good friends and such a wonderful family. I don't know what we would do without them. I pray for family members who are sick. I pray for my brother who is waiting for test results. I pray for friends who have loved ones who are sick. I pray for healing. Thank You for answering our prayers. You are an amazing God!
