He Walked
In Close Fellowship
With God

Scripture

Genesis 6

But Noah found favor with the Lord.

This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.

Observation

The book of Genesis starts out great with God walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, but things quickly go down hill and by chapter 6 of Genesis God is ready to destroy almost everything that He had created. By chapter 6 the Bible says that He was sorry that He ever created mankind.

Thank goodness for a guy named Noah.

Noah found favor with God and God used him to start all over!

When you read the story of Noah and the ark take time to think about what it must have been like for Noah and his family. He is building this boat that is 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. All of his neighbors must have thought that he had lost him mind.

His wife and his kids probably helped him, but they had to have doubts about building this big boat on dry land not even close to water, getting ready for a flood when it had never ever even rained once before!

There is so much in this story, but what I want to focus on just one thing this morning. It is found in verse 8, “But Noah found favor with the Lord.”

You and I have that same opportunity today. We can live our lives like Noah. No, not building an Ark, but living in a way that brings God’s Hand of favor on us.

You and I can live out our lives in a way that makes God smile! We can walk in close fellowship with Him.  We can walk in obedience.

 It is our choice!

Application

I will live today walking as close as I can with my Heavenly Father. How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to walk in close fellowship with You. Help me to be someone that You would pick out for a special task because of my obedience. Help me to be someone that You could trust. Help me to be faithful.
