I Don’t Fear God
Or Care About People,
But This Woman Is Driving Me Crazy

Scripture

Luke 18

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

² “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. ³ A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ ⁴ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, ⁵ but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

⁶ Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. ⁷ Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? ⁸ I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

Observation

I love this story. Jesus tells us this story to encourage us that we should always pray and never give up!

What have you been praying for and praying for and are tempted to give up? Don’t do it! Keep on praying. Don’t give up!

I have been praying for my children since they were little. I prayed for them even before they were born. My children are now grown, but I am still praying for them. This past week I read in an old spiritual journal that I have written in off and on in since the early 1970’s and in that journal I was constantly praying for my children.

Application

Today I am still praying for my children and I will never give up! I am praying to my Heavenly Father who loves me and who will answer my prayers.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You have told me in Your Word that “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!  He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates. You have given to me a full quiver and I give You thanks for each and every one of them. Bless them. Direct their lives so that they can be pleasing to You. Thank You for working in their lives. I know that You will answer all of my prayers that I have ever prayed for them. I will never give up!
