Remember This - - A Farmer Who Plants Only A Few Seeds Will Get A Small Crop.

Remember This - -
A Farmer Who Plants
Only A Few Seeds Will Get A Small Crop.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 9
Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.
Observation

If you and I learn this principle and put it into practice it will radically change our lives!

A person who wants to argue over whether the Bible teaches that we as believers should “tithe” or not misses the entire point of why we should give in the first place!

The Apostle Paul explains why we should be very generous and he uses an illustration that all of us, even those who never grew up out in the country, who have never set foot on a farm should be able to grasp! It is not rocket science!

It is the law of the harvest.

I remember Dr. Waylon B. Moore teaching us this principle when Kathy and I were first married. That was over 45 years ago (now over 50 years ago) and I have never forgotten what he taught us on the area of giving!

Here are a few things that I remember about the law of the harvest:

  1. Reap only what we sow. (If you don’t sow anything then you are not going to reap anything.
  2. Reap same kind as we sow. (If you plant apple seeds you don’t get orange trees.)
  3. Reap in a different season than we sow.
  4. Reap more than what we sow. (Luke 6:38)

The point this morning is that you and I can’t out give our Heavenly Father!

2 Corinthians 9:10

For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

Don’t we want God to produce a great harvest of generosity in us?

Application
I will continue to look for ways to be generous today. How about you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are so generous with me. Help me be generous with those around me. I pray for my friends this morning who are sheltered in. I pray for protection for them. Help them spend extra time in Your Word and extra time with You. Encourage them this morning, Lord. Encourage them.
I pray for those who have to be in the hospital right now. What a lonely time it can be for them. May they sense Your presence in the room with them. Give them strength. I pray for healing. Be with their doctors and nurses – give them wisdom and help them to be attentive.
And … Thank You for this Gift (Jesus) who is too wonderful for words! 2 Corinthians 9:15
