Even The Stork That Flies Across The Sky

Knows The Time Of Her Migration …

They All Return At The Proper Time Each Year.

Scripture

Jeremiah 8

7 Even the stork that flies across the sky
knows the time of her migration,
as do the turtledove, the swallow, and the crane.
They all return at the proper time each year.
But not my people!
They do not know the Lord’s laws.

Observation

Jeremiah was pronouncing judgment on God's people because they had turned their backs on God.

Animals instinctively know what to do. Isn't it amazing how they instinctively know to migrate and how instinctively they know to do so many other things but God has made us different from all the animals.

He has given us a free will. We have the choice to either live for God or we can live like God doesn't exist.

Instinctively we know that there is a God, but you and I have to make the choice to live for Him or choose to live life on our own.

Yes, we can turn our backs on God, but as anyone who reads the book of Jeremiah will quickly find out, turning our back on God is not a good idea.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

Romans 1:20-23

20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.

22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.

23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

Application

I am making the choice to live for God.

How about you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in a world with so many distractions and so much chaos it is easy to get off track. Thank You for giving me Your Word. It is a light to get me through all of this darkness. No matter how bad things get I know that You are always with me. You will walk with me through every crisis that comes my way. I am holding on to every one of Your promises.

I pray for my friends who are going through a very tough time right now. Give them Your strength. I pray for healing. Help them to depend and trust in You to get them through. Nothing is too hard for You!
