What Are You Doing Here, Elijah?

What
Are You Doing Here,
Elijah?
Scripture
1 Kings 19
11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.

13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.

And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Observation
What are you doing here, Elijah?
It is a question that God was asking his prophet Elijah who had gotten off track because of his fear of the wicked Queen Jezebel!
There are so many things that can get us off track!
Maybe, like Elijah, God has allowed us to be at a place in our lives where we now can hear His gentle whisper (maybe we have been temporarily sidelined) and maybe He is saying to us, “What are you doing here?”
God loves us. And God loves us just the way we are … but … He also loves us way too much to let us stay just the way we are!
So He is always whispering in that “still small voice”, but sometimes He has to do something drastic to get our attention because we are not listening!
What needs to change?
What is He whispering in our ear? What is He telling us today? Does He have our attention?
...“Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.”... 1 Samuel 3:9
Be still, and know that I am God! ...” Psalm 46:10
Application
I am all ears, speak, Lord, your servant is listening! … How about you?
Prayer

Heavenly Father, on this quiet Saturday morning I am listening. Lord, I am listening for Your still small voice. Help me to be obedient. Don't let me get off track.
I pray for any person reading this blog today. Speak to them Lord and help them to say, “Yes” to whatever You want them to do.
Daily Bible Reading: 1 Kings 17,18,19; Colossians 2
