God Saved You By His Grace When You Believed

God Saved You
By His Grace
When You Believed
Scripture
Ephesians 2
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Observation
My friend, if you were at Heaven's gate and God were to ask you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?” What would you say to Him?
For the past 10-12 years I have been asking that question to people week after week at Mission Tampa, where Kathy and I volunteer each week, and the response that I get from most of the people I ask might surprise you. But then again maybe you would answer that question the very same way that they did.
In fact, I think it would shock you if you knew just how many people sitting in church Sunday after Sunday after Sunday still don't have the correct answer to that question!
They may hear the correct answer every Sunday, but it hasn't gone to their heart.
The Bible says that there is only one way that you and I can have Eternal Life … just one! Do you know the Way?
Most people believe that one day they will be in Heaven because they do enough good things to outweigh all of the bad things that they have done. It is like they think that God has some giant scales in Heaven and if a person does more good than bad then they get in. And maybe that is how you are thinking that you might squeak in!
It is the way most people respond when asked about how a person gets to go to Heaven.
Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that salvation is a gift from God and it can't be earned by the good things that we do. So none of us can ever be good enough to get into Heaven by our own good deeds.
So how does a person receive the gift of salvation?
Simple answer: We put our faith and trust in what Jesus did for us on the cross (He died to pay the penalty for our sins – He offered His life as a gift – His sinless life in exchange for our sinful life) and we turn from sin and self and we turn to God surrendering our lives to Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.
Jesus said, “..., I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,” John 10:28
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
Application
I will continue to share with people the Good News that Jesus saves. How about you? Lost or Saved?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I know that most people that may read this blog already understand Your plan of salvation, but maybe there is someone that is reading this today that has never understood. I pray for them right now. Open up his or her understanding so that they can believe and so that they can have Eternal Life. I know that only You can show them the Truth. Give all of us who are believers the boldness to share our faith with everyone who comes across our paths. Help our message be clear so that they can understand all they can have when they put their faith and trust in Your Son Jesus Christ.
