At This Point Many Of His Disciples Turned Away And Deserted Him.

At This Point
Many Of His Disciples
Turned Away And Deserted Him.
Scripture
John 6
66 At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.

67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”

68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.

69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.

Observation
It was after the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 described in John 6 that many of Jesus' disciples quit following Jesus. They didn't like what He was saying. They were with Him as long as He was miraculously feeding them and healing them but when He began saying things that they didn't like, they left him.
Maybe you have done the same thing. I find so many people that used to go to church, but now for one reason or another have quit attending.
At least, most of the people that have quit attending, will, with a little encouragement get back into church.
But every once in awhile I run into someone who was once a leader in a church but now denies even having a relationship with Christ. Thank goodness those encounters are rare.
Only God knows a person's heart and every once in awhile you and I will be shocked and we will be disappointed and maybe even disillusioned when a disciple ups and quits following Jesus.
Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”
So let me ask you, “What are you going to do? Isn't it time you got back into church and started following Jesus again?”
Or maybe you are faithfully attending church but there is someone you know that has quit coming to church – why not take the time to go by their house and invite them back!
Application

I will think of those who have quit coming to church and I will try to reach out to them. How about you? Will you have the courage to start back to church?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray for the person who reads this blog today. Help them to make the decision to turn back to You today if they have fallen away. I want to see them in church. I want to see them growing in their relationship with You. Don't let them sleep good at night until they have made the decision to get back in church and have started attending. And every time they wake up at night may they think about You! Thank You for what You are doing in the lives of so many people at our church. Help them to continue to grow! And help our church reach more and more people for Christ.
