“Would You Like To Get Well?”

Would
You Like
To Get Well?”
Scripture
Nahum 1
7 The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him.
John 5
5 One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?”
7 “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”
8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”
9 Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking!
Observation
The man had been sick for thirty-eight years! Jesus asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can't, sir,” said this very sick man back to Jesus!
This sick man didn't have a clue who was talking to him. He didn't know that he was talking to Jesus, the very Son of God, the Creator of the entire Universe!
Doctors are good to go to when you and I get sick, especially when we are fighting some life threatening illness, but lets be sure to go to the Great Physician, before we go to our Primary Care doctor or to our specialist!
Kathy has written in huge letters on the mirror in our bedroom these words, “Pray First”!
This verse found in Nahum 1:7, says it all, “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.” (Nahum 1:7)
Lets talk to our Heavenly Father about all of our troubles!
Application
I will try to remember to “pray first”. How about you?
James 5
14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am thankful for doctors, medicine, and for modern technology, but none of it compares to You. Your power to heal, with or without a doctors help is what I need to always rely on. I pray for those who are dealing with sickness today. Help them to put their trust in You.
Daily Bible Reading: Nahum 1,2,3; John 5
