Where Is Your Faith?

Where
Is
Your Faith?
Scripture
Luke 8
22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out.

23 As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger.

24 The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.
25 Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”
The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!”
Observation
Mark's account of this same story, which can be found in Mark chapter four, is a little more descriptive of what the disciples yelled out to Jesus as they were trying to wake Him up -- they said, “don't you care if we drown?”
Maybe like Jesus' disciples you feel like you are drowning, you are up to your eyeballs in troubles and maybe you feel like you are getting ready to go under – may I suggest you do what the disciples did – go to Jesus!
And yes, He cares about what is going on in my life and He cares about what is going on in your life too. Lets just have faith!
If we have Jesus (if He is our Lord and Savior) then He lives within us!
He is not only in our boat ... He lives inside of us!
And yes, He cares about what is going on in my life and He cares about what is going on in your life too. Lets just have faith!
1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is hethat is in you, than he that is in the world.
Psalm 34:17
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.
Psalm 145:19
He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Application

When I can't see God's hand in something that is going on around me … I will trust His heart. How about you? Will you trust Him today?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed by some of the things happening in the lives of people who are very close to me. I know that what they need in the mighty intervention of Your powerful right hand. Help them Lord. Change the hearts of those who have decided to say yes to sin and are now walking outside of Your will. Lord, help them turn their lives back around. Save them from the choices that they are making. Help them. Change their hearts. I pray for those who are sick. I pray for those in the hospital and for those facing surgery. Give them strength. Heal them Lord. You never rest. You are constantly thinking about us. Help us to have faith!
